This was a wonderful story of a grandfather's letter to his grandson reminding him of the great times they had spent together. It was also a time he prepared him for his death by telling him about Christ's death for us. As the child reads the letter, his grandfather left him. He learns his grandfather is in heaven with Jesus and will see him again one day. This was a wonderful way to talk about your Christian beliefs and what happens to Christians when they die. This book is an Easter book but it is also great for young children who have had a grandparent go to heaven.
Not wholly focused on getting the story of Christ's resurection cross to children. Too much time "wandering" around. I wasn't even sure if this was a Christian book until the very end.
Precious and sweet! I read this to my 3yr old son just before Easter and it really relates because of the loss of his grandfather and his other aging grandparents.It is reassuring for us all to know through faith we will all be together again.
This little picture book may be helpful to children who have lost someone dear to them. It's a tender story that illustrates in a simple way the real meaning of Easter and the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
I think this book will be helpful to young children who are grieving the loss of a grandparent,family member or friend. It is a lovely depiction of a grandparents bond! It is a Christian book so there may be other strict religious beliefs that will possibly discard this book. For Christians it is a wonderful message to convey to children and will certainly be a comfort in the mourning process. I found it very heartwarming and it even brought tears to my eyes,having experienced a great deal of grief in my life so far. The illustrations were very sweet and I thought it was cleaver to have the words as part of the actual picture. A pity that there was a bad review because of the text being too small. I didn't find it hard to read on my device and a person can always 'zoom in' if necessary. A sweet little book! Thanks for the 'freebie'
An elderly man writes a letter to his grandchild, and remarks that all the joy he experiences from the little child's activities have given him a glimpse of Heaven, and of how life should really be. One day, he says, they will be separated. But that will not be the end, just another start, until they are back together for all eternity. This simple picture book is not only a real delight, but also quite moving.
I got misty-eyed the first time I read it and almost bawled the second time. This is such a sweet story. The words are a little small but if you double click the image (on my new fire HD anyway) the image is made full-screen and it is clearly readable. It has sort of a handwritten font too so that makes it a bit harder to decipher. I think it is a great book for preparing a child for the loss of a grandparent.
