Lee Warren spent 120 days in 2005 of very intense duty in the front lines of Iraq operating on our soldiers, contractors, terrorists and civilians. His professionalism and his heart are on display in his account of these days. What does not show, until the end which was written a few years later, is the toll it was taking on him emotionally. He came home a different man than the one who left. We owe so much to those we ask to serve in these situations and this book is a good reminder of why. It is also a deep spiritual journey helping us understand where we can find strength and grace to help in time of need.I was on Dr. Warren's email list for some of the time he was in Iraq and the book wraps up very well what he tried to share with all of us on a daily basis back then.

This story is an emotional, spiritual journey through a surgeon's adventure as he tried to save soldiers in Iraq. Dr. Warren is a spiritual witness as he helps the reader come face to face with the powerful Grace of God. I am personally thrilled to have had an opportunity to read this wonderful story.
A real behind the scenes look at a war zone surgical hospital. A riviting,spiritual,eye-opening read. You won't want to put it down until you see what happens with all the patients and doctors, and read of all the jaw dropping accounts of wounds only seen in a war zone. But above all the amazing spiritual journey taken by this surgeon. I think I'll go read it again after writing this review. Its that good!!

This book gives an incredible first hand picture of the battlefield from a Dr's point of view. Heart breaking and inspirational stories, you will never think of our american soldiers the same. I have so much respect for our boys in uniform after reading this book. I'd give it 10 stars!
